Franklin Clark was born in Provo, Utah, May 12, 1859. Clark worked in the Tintic mines and married Mary Elizabeth Nelson in 1882. They had five sons and one daughter. The Clark family lived in Santaquin for a few years and then moved to Spring Lake, where Clark worked as a farmer. On Dec. 3, 1899, at a LDS stake conference meeting, Franklin Clark was asked to serve a mission to the Southwestern States Mission.
